James D. "Pete" Peterson

Peterson, James D. (Pete), 92, passed away on July 12, 2014. A visitation will be on Monday, July 14 at 6 pm at Broadway Mortuary. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 2 pm at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Pete was born in Stroud, OK, on June 2, 1922. He graduated from Webb City High School in 1940. He married Dorothy (Wineland) Peterson on May 24, 1953. Pete spent his career as a pipe welder and was a lifelong member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 441 of Wichita, KS. He was a proud American, loved watching sports and was an avid Jayhawk fan. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Peterson; three children: Gary (Marchel) Peterson of Spring, TX; Sandy (Dan) Rickards of Wichita, KS; and Roger Peterson of Wichita, KS. He is also survived by his sister Joan Kahline of Reisterstown, MD; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Dorothy (Waltman) Peterson; and his sons, Jim Bostick and Larry Peterson.
