James Doyle Tieszen

Tieszen, James Doyle, 65, passed away March 19, 2011, at his home in Denton, TX., following a five-month-long battle against cancer. He was born on April 28, 1945, in Newton, KS., to Charles E. and Dorothy Wedel Tieszen. He graduated from McPherson High School in McPherson, KS., and attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS., with basketball and tennis scholarships. He married Martha Kay Battey on Lewisville n Oct. 30, 1981, in Elkhart, IN. In 1985, they moved to Denton, TX., and he was co-owner and manager of Vista Mfg., of Elkhart, IN., and Ponder, TX. He was involved for many years in team roping and was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman, and an active member of the Denton Country Club. he was a member of First Baptist Church of Denton. he is survived by his wife, Martha Tieszen of Denton; stepfather, Clinton K. Linn of Denton; daughter, Paige Tieszen of Frisco, TX.; sons, Tod Tieszen and wife, Pascha of Sanger, KS.; Mark Tieszen and wife, Erika of Portland, OR.; and Jeff Battey of Pondor, TX.; brothers, Bob Tiezen and wife Patricia of Sanger, TX.; and Dwayne Tieszen and wife, Cheryl of Denton; grandchildren, Cassie Lynn Torres of Denton; Kevin Lee Battey of Denton; and Autumn Rae Tieszen of Sanger; great-grandchildren, Tryniti Masha Torres and Tyren Makai Anthony, both of Denton. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will be a DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton for visitation from 6-8 p.m., today. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, First Baptist Church of Denton, with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial park, Denton.
