Jan Robert Shaver

Shaver, Jan Robert, beloved son of Robert D. and Pattye Shaver, died July 15, 2013, at the age of 62 years. He was born Sept. 3, 1950, at Harwood Nursing Home, Stockton, Kan. and his family moved to Wichita when he was an infant. He is survived by his parents and his brother, Joel. He graduated from South High School in 1968. Jan proudly served in the U.S. Navy and served a tour in Viet Nam where he experienced exposure to Agent Orange, a defoliant widely used in the jungles of Viet Nam during the war and which was responsible for his 21 month battle with cancer. He worked at Beechcraft in Wichita before being transferred to Jackson, Miss. He was employed by THE AGES GROUP in Boca Raton, Fla., before moving back to Kansas in 2000, where he worked for the City of Wichita and then as a Service Officer for the W.P.D. Friend to many, "J.R." was gifted with a delightful sense of wit and humor and fun to be around, as well as being a very generous and caring family member. We shall miss him.
