John was a great man and teacher. He had such a gentle spirit that I have tried to cultivate. Very privileged to have known him.

John was one of the best clarinetists I've ever had the pleasure to play with. A Kind and humble man. May God Bless.

A graciously kind man and wonderful musician. One of my mentors as a beginning band director years ago in the Golden Belt area. We played many concerts and gigs with lots of memories.

John Banman was my father's band director at Clearwater High School early in his career. Dad thought very highly of him. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Banman on several occasions. He was a respected, quality man that left a great legacy to music education.

What a great man...always so kind, gracious and full of joy! He was a close friend of my Uncle Louis Hartenbower and teacher to many of my family members at Ellinwood (mom, cousins Cheri and Scooter). The Ellinwood Jazz Combo in heaven just added a new horn.

I had the privilege and honor of teaching with John for 14 years. We had a great time together and we have remained close friends for all of these years. Paula and I stopped by to see him at Kidron mid November and we laughed and joked like we always did. It was a shock to both of us when we learned of his passing. Eldon Hamm Ellinwod

I grew up accross the alley from the Banmans, and I used to bang on his window at school so he would let me in to shoot baskets in the gym in the summer. He always let me in, but sent me home with a trombone one summer. He was an unbelievable instrumentalist, and thoroughly loved what he did.
