To the Edwards Family:
Words can not express my sense of loss of a close family friend. How well I remember the years that Pastor Edwards and my father ran the trash hauling business together. The years of worship between the two families at Tabernacle.
The counseling he gave me during my troubled years during my fist marriage.
A great warrior of the faith is now receiving his reward with the Saints that are in Heaven--
Thank God for a mighty man of God---

Shortly after waking up on the morning of May 2, 2011, I heard my cell phone ring. I have the ring programmed for my sister JoAnn's number. It was unusually early for her to call and my stomach sank as I anticipated news I might not want to hear. I answered and she told me "Uncle John" passed away. It took a moment to process, because I suppose I did not want to believe it, and then tears began to well up as memories of him raced through my mind, along with the recent passing of dad. A tear ran down the side of my face. You know Jesus wept as he was going to Lazarus' grave. He understands sorrow, sickness and death. He understands our tears and grief. As a matter of fact, he understands everything about us. He LOVES us. I am so thankful for the words he spoke to Martha in John 11:26, 27, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die... Yes we do have a hope in the resurrection.
I know my father and Uncle John were close. They shared a calling to share the Gospel and serve as a Pastor. God used them both for His glory and has now called them home. I have so many fond memories of my Uncle. I will miss you Uncle John.
To my aunt Imogene, Stephanie and Natasha and family, WE LOVE YOU.

I will GREATLY miss seeing and talking to my WONDERFUL NEIGHBOR or just waving to him as he sat on his porch. He always greeted me with a friendly smile, compliment and the neigborhood watch report (smile). I will miss Mr. Edward's profound advice and scriptual references. He and Mrs. Edwards, Stephanie and Tasha have always been supportive neighbors and friends since our family moved in the neighborhood close to 30 ago. I am grateful to have known such a nice, God-fearing, family-oriented man. May the God of Comfort continue to keep each one of you in his loving care; and know that I will be there for you at anytime as a loving neighbor and friend. His presence will truly be missed in the whole neighborhood.
Praying for you in Neighborly and Christian Love,

The word of God let's us know that the Joy of the Lord is our strength, and that when we are weak God is strong, the bible also encourages us in that, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. MAY THE GRACE OF GOD KEEP AND STRENGTHEN YOU IN YOUR TIME OF LOSS!

Sis Edwards, Stephanie, Tasha, Tyrell, Chad, Chaz, and New Salem family I have often wondered why Pastor Edwards out of the blue said this to me last week and now I know it was to pass it on too all of you "the Lord sees your pain, he hasn't forgot about you, He's going to bless you". Be encouraged I pray the Lord will send comfort and peace to all of our hearts. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be taught from a little girl through young adulthood by a true God fearing man. All we can do is take the words spoke through Gods vessel (words from Heaven) and as Pastor Edwards would say "examine ourselves"! I encourage you all to take a minute to read proverbs 3 Pastor would always, among other passages direct me there. All glory and honor be to Jesus Christ! I love all of you, be blessed!

Grandma, Stephanie, and Tasha, you are on my heart and mind constantly. I know that you all are so close and Grandpa was "The Man" and the glue or the security that us girls look for to make things all better. Even though I was not around so much, just know that his spiritual strength as a man was quite an influence in my life. I still remember his warm strong hugs since I was a little girl. His hugs just make things seem like they are going to be alright. I always knew he was there. He would show me my picture on his desk when I was little and I would feel so good. There is nothing like having a strong man in your life who you know loves you and is there for you. You know he is not gone, just "on the otherside" as my mom said to me. I wish I could do something to take away your pain. But the day will come when we will see him again. "Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted". You are in my prayers. I love you.

For the suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed in us. As we await the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ or our season to sleep, we can rest assure that Pastor Edwards, being a true man of God, can experience that glory when he rises from slumber. I am praying for the entire Edwards family for you are ALL near and dear to us. Love you all!

Pastor Edwards is and always will be a special part of our lives!! For over 25 years I have called New Salem my church home. I remember church service at Brooks Middle School in the 80's and functions at the Edwards home during the week and weekend!! Whenever I moved to a different state over the years, finding a new church was always hard because I was so used to Pastor's,what I call, 'non-sugar coated teaching'. I will always remember him saying 'let me make it plain' during his sermons. And he did make it plain!! My sibblings and I have soooooo many great memories of Pastor and we will always love him. He will always be, to me, the BEST Pastor!!! I can go on forever and ever about how wonderful and amazing he was and was how he was a TRUE MAN OF GOD!! We were all blessed to know him and I wish there were more like him =-) I would always think highly of Pastor as I do my own grandpa!! To Sis. Edwards, Stephanie, Tasha, Pastors Mother and family...I love you all. Pastor is with the Lord and I'm sure that he is smiling that great smile down on you right now! I will keep you all in my prayers!
With love,
Camille D. Moore-Turner and Family
