Jondalar Pike Obituary

Jondalar McDoniel Pike, of Sedgwick County, Kansas, passed away suddenly at Ascension Hospital in Wichita on September 23, 2025, at the age of 37. He had lived courageously for many years with complications following a brain injury he suffered at age 21.

Jondalar is survived by his mother, Kathy Pike; his brother, Nathaniel Pike; sister-in-law, Katherine Pike; and three nephews, Alexander, Harrison, and Samuel Pike. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Rocco. He was preceded in death by his father, Captain Randy Lee Pike.

Born on April 6, 1988, to Randy and Kathy Pike, Jondalar attended Clearwater High School and went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree from Cowley Community College. He later graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Health Science degree, emphasizing Public Health. Pursuing his passion for healthcare, Jondalar moved to Kansas City, where he completed the rigorous Phlebotomy Technician program at Johnson County Community College. He became a licensed phlebotomist and began his career serving patients in the Wichita area.

In his younger years, Jondalar spent summers working alongside his mother and brother at the Kansas Grown Farmers Market. Together, he and Nathaniel created and sold homemade dog biscuits-a small family business that earned a loyal following and continues to this day. He was also an active member of the Sunnyday 4-H Club, participating from age eight through high school. During those years, he served as a camp counselor at Rock Springs 4-H Camp, mentoring younger members. His kindness, enthusiasm, and sense of inclusion earned him the respect of his peers and the Camp Counselor of Distinction award.

Jondalar was a devoted son, brother, and friend-an avid outdoorsman, musician, and sport shooter. He loved fishing and could often be found at lakes and streams throughout Kansas. A talented marksman, he excelled in air rifle competitions, earning several first-place finishes, including National Champion honors. Music was another of his great passions; he played both electric and acoustic guitar, sang in the University Congregational Church Choir, and loved making music with friends. He could pick up new songs with ease and joy.

Above all, Jondalar will be remembered for his generous heart. He cared deeply for his family-supporting his father through Alzheimer's with patience and compassion, and helping his mother in every way he could. He was a steady and loving presence for his nephews and delighted in spending time with them.

Jondalar's sense of humor was unmatched. He was a natural storyteller and prankster who could light up any room. His laughter, quick wit, and playful spirit brought joy to everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts may be sent to the University Congregational Church, Student Emergency Fund, 9209 E. 29th St. North, Wichita, KS 67226.
