Larry W. Blankenship
November 20, 1942 - June 18, 2022
Wichita, Kansas - Larry was born on November 20, 1942, in Lyons, KS, the youngest of three children to William and Edna (White) Blankenship.
Larry served in the U.S. Army from May 20, 1964 through May 10, 1966, then began his nearly 40-year career with KP&L/Westar Energy starting out as a lineman and retiring in management. He married Merilyn "Beth" Ward on November 19, 1966.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Beth, of the home; daughter, Julie (Scott) Sackrider, Lawrence, KS; son, Ward (Jennifer) Blankenship, Overland Park, KS; granddaughters, Rebekah (Ross) Clouse-Westervelt, Lakewood, CO, Finley Blankenship, Overland Park, KS; brother, Gary (Karol) Blankenship, Shell Knob, MO; sister, Dee (Clarence) Poppelreiter, Holyrood, KS; numerous nephews, nieces, friends, and beloved dogs, Jade and Reno.
Memorial contributions may be made in Larry's name to: Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202 or Geneseo United Methodist Church, 407 8th Street, Geneseo, KS 67444.
Graveside Memorial Service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Geneseo Cemetery, Geneseo, Kansas. Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Share tributes online at www.dlwichita.com
