Mervene Goff Obituary

Goff, Mervene Hellene. November 14, 1917 - October 5, 2006. Mervene Goff passed away at Bishop Spencer Place in Kansas City, Mo. on October 5, 2006. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Wilbur Goff in 1977. She is survived by her four children: Marilyn Sanders of Concord, Calif., Phil Goff of Alamo, Calif., Lawrence Goff of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and Ted Goff of Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers Andrew Sammer of McPherson and Dallas Sammer of Bartlesville, Okla. Mervene Sammer was born in Quinlan, Okla. She graduated from high school in Blackwell, Okla. and from Hills Business College in Oklahoma City. She moved to Wichita and was married to Wilbur Goff on July 20, 1941. In 1947 they purchased a small farm in Oatville and some of Mervene's fondest memories were those of raising her children in a country setting. She and Wilbur donated a parcel of land on which the Oatville Community Church was built. Wilbur was employed by Boeing Aircraft and his work caused them to relocate to Caribou, Maine, Merced, Calif., and then Seattle, Wash. Upon Wilbur's retirement from Boeing, they returned to Oatville. Mervene then obtained her Real Estate Brokers License and was quite active in various residential real estate transactions. Mervene always cherished her Christian upbringing and her church activities. She was especially close to her two brothers, Andrew and Dallas Sammer. Family and friends are invited to attend a service to be held on Saturday, October 14 at 2 p.m. at the Smith Mortuary - Haysville, 7031 So. Broadway. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Oatville.
