Dear Friends and Family.
We want to say how appreciative we are of the time you've taken to give us these wonderful tributes to dad. They are all truly, the essence and character of The Slammer.
Dad's lessons to live by, live on for his grand/great grandchildren through your words;"A good caddy is your right hand", "treat everyone like your brother", "play to win."
To Mom/Annie and the rest of us, your memories are cherished by us and will remain, a part of the legacy of Nick Stevens.
Dad always said he had a lot of friends. Who would have thought how many lives he really touched. Thanks!

Dear Stevens Family,
I have just returned from being out of town and have learned of your loss. I do so wish I could have attended the funeral service. I had the opportunity to caddy for Nick many times at MacDonald Park. My fondest memory is caddying for Nick one Saturday afternoon at Mac Park when he hit driver and 6 iron into the hole for a double eagle! What a thrill. Nick was a great golfer but his greatness is truly recognized in the quality of his family. He will be missed.
Kindest regards,
Bob Hughey

I have many fond memories of my Dad, King Roberts, taking me to Cigarette Service on Saturdays. I'll always remember one Saturday when Nick and my father were moving a cigarette machine and being small I actually stood inside another machine to get out of their way. Nick saw me, laughed, and said I was small enough to fit into his shirt pocket. Through all the many years when ever I met up with Nick he never failed to mention that day. He will be missed. My condolences to the family. He was a fine man!

Dear Family,
I remember as a kid my dad (King Roberts) would take me to work with him on a Saturday at Cigarette Service. I was always excited to go it seemed like such a fun place to work. I remember one Saturday Nick was talking to me and turned around to the big safe behind him a pulled out a dollar and gave it to me for “all the work I did that day.” Both Nick and Art were so good to my dad and our family. I will always remember them fondly. Whenever I say Nick around town and introduced myself to him he was always so friendly and upbeat. I’m sure you will all miss him very much and I offer my sincere condolences to the family of a truly good man.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. I can remember all those years ago in kindergarten when Alice would take Mikey and I to Jack's office to visit. I just loved Grandpa Nick. Since none of my grandparents lived in Wichita, he was like my "other" grandpa.

Mrs. Stevens and Family,
I just wanted to tell you how very sorry I am for your loss. I feel like I knew Mr. Stevens from just being around Nick, Kim, Salem, & Grace. Mr. Stevens was always very kind to me. I always thought it was so neat how he would bring donuts to all the grandkids house every saturday morning. What a great memory for the grandkids & great grandkids.
He did amazing things in his life and so many people can say they were better people to have known him.
He was a good man and he will be missed and remembered!
The entire family has my deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Annie & family;
Thanks for sending Little Nick to squeeks to tell us good ole boys that our good buddy was gone. To play golf I'm sure at that Big course in the sky. I'm so glad we had doughnuts together for his birthday. I miss him alot, he always had pearls of wisdom to share with us and lots of fun BS. Truly one of the good guys that touches your heart in lifes journey.
Annie, you and the family are in my prayers.

Dear Stevens Family,
My name is Chris Gebert. I live in California now but was born and raised in Wichita. I am Al Gebert's grandson.
I just wanted you to know how sorry I was to hear of Nick's passing. He was an extraordinary man and what a great life he had. I was very active in Wichita athletics growing up and often times would see Nick up in the stands at various athletic events I was involved with. I was also one of the "kids" that benefited from his efforts with junior golf in Wichita. Finally, my grandfather always spoke of Nick very favorably as a football player at Wichita State University (was then called Wichita University). When talking about his players, my grandfather would say, that Nick Stevens was "a hell of an athlete" and "tough as nails". Those were considered the highest compliments from "coach" Gebert. Not many got those compliments. Thought you'd like to know that.
Please accept my condolences. I am very sorry for your (our) loss. He was a wonderful man and a kind person. I'm just so thankful he had such a wonderful long life. We lost one of the good ones this week.
Warm regards,
Chris Gebert
