Pamela Kingsbury Obituary
November 7, 1940 - May 5, 2022
Wichita, Kansas - age 81, passed away on May 5th, 2022 in her home. She was born on November 7th, 1940 to Huntington H. Kingsbury and Donna Evans Kingsbury in Pasadena, California. She grew up in Wichita, attending Wichita East High School. She furthered her education at George Washington University with her B.A. in European History, earned her M.A. in Art History at the University of Kansas, and obtained her Ph D. in Art History from the University of Chicago. Pamela loved architecture and found joy in researching structures all over the world, but especially here in Wichita. She was a published author and volunteered on the boards for Historic Preservation of the City of Wichita and the Wichita Art Museum to name a few. In her later years, she enjoyed her garden, fresh flowers, going to art museums, and sharing a meal and stories with friends and her caregivers. Visitation will be on May 18th from 5-7p. Funeral service will be on Thursday, May 19th at 1p. Both will be held at Affinity All Faiths Mortuary, 2850 S. Seneca, Wichita, KS.

We at the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) are saddened to learn about the death of Pamela D. Kingsbury. Pam was an active member of SAH for decades, attending our annual international conferences taking SAH Study Tours, and even organizing three architectural study tours for SAH with her friend Robert Winter. Their study tours took us to the Heartland of the US--Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas, to Pasadena California to see Arts and Crafts architecture, and to New York to study the work of architect Bertram Goodhue. Pam made many deep friendships at SAH and she will be missed. We send our sincere sympathy to Pam's family and friends.
