Dear Verity and Family
I just wanted to let you know how extremely sorry and sad I am to hear about your mum and what you and your children went through. I cannot believe that such an awful tragedy could happen to such a wonderful family. I have such fond memories of my stay with you and your family all those many years ago.
All my love

Don, Words cannot express how very saddened I am to learn of Paula's " death. Unfortunately, I was away from my home (in Corpus Christi, Tx.)without my computer so I didn't receive Carolyn's email until this morning. Words cannot express what I'm feeling for you - nor am I about to tell you I know what you are going through. However, having lost "my treasure, Eldon" in October of '07, I do know some of what you are dealing with - my heart is so very heavy for you. I remember those happy times (for 8+ years) when we all met on Wednesday evenings for great fellowship and Bible Study - you and Paula, Jim and Carolyn, Max and Bonnie, Rob and Susan, etal. (I still have Eldon's notes from all those studies). You and Paula were such an intricate part of those evenings. Knowing that words cannot ease your pain, I still want you to know that I will pray for you - for comfort in this terrible loss, for peace in knowing that Paula (and Eldon) are where we happily will be someday, and for the knowledge that our Lord is there with you even when you don't think He is.
Love,

Dr. Vannaman & Family,

So many memories of my youth revolve around your family. From swimming in the pool in High School to playing Bunko with "the girls" at your house, many years later. They are memories I will always cherish.
Paula will remain the angel looking out for all of us in my heart.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Don, I laugh and I cry when I remember those crazy days in Wichita when Paula let me be in the "gourmet club" even though I couldn't cook. Our kids were the same ages and I always remember that Paula never raised her voice to them while I had to yell just to get their attention. I accused her of "talking them to death until they could't take anymore and promised to be good" What a great Mom and a great friend. Lastly I can't leave out our trip to New Orleans where you sold your micrscope at the last minute so you could go. Now there was a couple who knew their priorities. I'm so glad we got to visit a few years ago in KC, lost touch again, but never forgotten.Dick and I are so sorry for your loss and extend our feelings to the kids. I am in touch with Jerry and we will plan to see you later. Love, Barb and Dick Nolen

Dr. Vannaman,
I had a nice talk with your daughter Sunday night at the community pool where we live. We just met and she shared with me that her mother recently passed away. We moved back to Wichita two weeks ago from Kansas City. While in Kansas City and before your retirement last summer, you took care of our two boys, Reese and Blake. Our friends highly recommended you as a peditrician. I'm so very sorry for the loss of your wife. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Much love and many prayers,

Cherie Durkin
