LAWRENCE - Schmidt, Raymond "Ray," 91, died July 11, 2007. Wake and recitation of the rosary 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Warren McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, KS. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday, St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, Lawrence. He was born August 7, 1915 in Hyacinth, KS, the son of George & Pauline (Miller) Schmidt. He graduated from St. Jopsehp's Military Academy in Hays, KS. He served in the United States Marine Corp in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Schmidt was past president of the Parent-Teacher's Association, Hays, KS, and an honorary Chapter Farmer of the Future Farmers of America. hen managed Farmer's Cooperatives fpr much of his life, and was a field representative for Farmland Industries. Later in life he was employed a s a sales representative for Pur-O-Zone Chemical Company and A.B. Coker & son. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Hays, KS, and a member of the American Legion, Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14. Mr. Schmidt was married to Cora Herman on February 27, 1946. She preceded him in death on January 10, 1983. Survivors include two sons, William Schmidt of the home; Barron George Schmidt of Wichita; daughter, Raemona Lynn Webb & husband Daryl of Lawrence; 4 grandchildren, Tammy, Michael, John, Emily; 6 great-grandchildren.
