A giant of a man and a legend has touched many lives including me and my family. He was a kind, unassuming and gentle man who was generous to many, including me and my family, when time were tough a couple of times. He, and Rollande, just knew when to be there. He was an "older" cousin of mine, closer to my Mom's age than mine so for many years he was just one of the "old folks." I got to know him better after I became an adult when age doesn't matter as much! We also enjoyed good times at "The Beach House" that Richard and Rollande so generously shared with many family and friends.
Life is about love, generosity and kindness and Richard embodied all of those virtues while still being human! Rest in Peace, dear cousin, I know you are and hope to see you again sometime.
My love and prayers go to you Rollande and I am proud to call you cousin too!

I recall Richard's compassion for those around him and how he cared about the people who worked for him. Condolence and peace to Rollande and the rest of the Lockhart family.

Gayle and I always looked forward to spending time with Richard and Rollande. We enjoyed many hours of sharing meals, playing cards, walking on the beach, and, as the Ekhoffs say, visiting. We were always struck by Richard's kindness and generosity, and a special blend of intelligence mixed with good country sense. I think everyone who met Richard felt the same way. The world could use a lot more people like Richard.

Our wedding gift from Dick and Rollande in 1994 was the use of their cabin in Jackson WY. For newlyweds with limited funds, it was a dream. They helped us later in our lives too when our financial means we're less than ideal. Family reunions, visits to our home in the Twin Cities, Canon Beach OR and Dick's retirement party were highlights. We are forever thankful for their boundless love, generosity, and integrity. I'll really miss you Dick. Hugs and kisses, Tom and Peggy Pieper

Richard Lee, as he was always known to the younger cousins, was a kind, thoughtful, helpful man, known for his generosity. He patiently put up with us calling him Richard Lee, instead of Dick! He welcomed family to his home in Jackson, and later on the Oregon Coast. Some of my favorite memories are of my family telling stories of his college days when he lived with my folks. He engendered so much laughter and joy during those times! Our family was honored with visits to both his homes and fondly recall how much those times meant to all of us.
He will be missed as a guiding light in our world. He will light us on to the next one.
With Love,
Cousin Jackie Downie

Dick Lockhart was one of my fond friends, a mentor, partner - as genuine a person I have ever known. I will cherish the conversations and visits and work relationship we had over the last 30 years. Hugs to you, Rollande, and remember the great times. Your friend,
