To the entire Giroux family,
It's 2013, and I just now came across the passing of your father. It's been so many years since I've seen or talked to any of you, but I will always remember how close and wonderful you were as a family. I had the pleasure of working along side several of you during your stay in Kentucky, and am sorry to have lost contact with you. My sincerest sympathies and prayers are with you all. You have been in thoughts so many times over the years. God bless you all, and may your father rest in the peace of Christ.

Dear Ann, Mary, Dan, and family,
We learned last evening of Bob's recent funeral. We are in Kansas City now and we were not aware of your loss.
You have a wonderful, loving family and Bob is a shining example of a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and father in law.
He was always teaching by words and example. His sons and daughters have a great role model and he was always so proud of each and every one of you.
Ann, you are his soul mate in every sense of the term.
Everyone who knew him will miss him dearly.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time and beyond.
Love and Prayers,
Diane and Bob

Dear all the Giroux Family:
I am so tardy in getting this posted. It feels like when Eddy and me would be running to make Sociology class and slide into the back row just as Dr. Heck would be starting. I guess better late than never. I had wanted to be down in Wichita for the services so much. It always meant alot to me to receive that diploma from Dr. Giroux and hear "Well done Flounder!". I will always remember the full house and everything that Rick Roder talked about. He raised such great kids. I remember the debates between Rick and Tom going on in Ricks room, all the good times I had with Yogi, Ed, and Angie & Ann and all the other kids. Anne you always made us feel at home even though I wasnt. I think that had something to do with why I came back after my freshman year when I had doubts. My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you, know how very much I care about you. Thank you Dr. Giroux and "Well done Robert, you were a good a faithful servant".

To the Giroux Family,
I have so many wonderful memories of Bob and your family. You took me into your family like I was one of your own. Bob and Anne helped me and loved me at a very difficult time in my life. They didn't judge or condemn, just loved and supported me. Even though we hadn't seen each other in years, I never forgot the time I spent with your family and the love I felt for you all. We all lost a very wonderful man and my prayers are with you all.

hello Ann and family - I was in Des Moines for the inaugural ceremonies of Governor Chet Culver last week. Denise Dolan called to tell me this sad, sad, news about President Giroux's passing as did Sister Margaret Cosgrove BVM. You must know how sad we are for your loss. John and I had the great good fortune of baby sitting the wonderful Giroux children following our honeymoon to Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in the spring of '78. What a thrill to be held in the embrace of Giroux energy! Bob, and you, Ann were such an inspiration to us through our years in college in Dubuque, and as a young married couple. Bob was a great teacher and I will never forget him or the love he shared with all of us. much love and many prayers teri hawks goodmann

My thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of Bob. He was larger than life, and I feel fortunate to have called him my friend. I first met Bob when I was a reporter at The Wichita Eagle. I profiled him while he was president of Kansas Newman College, and from there a friendship was born.
If ever there was a Renaissance man it was Dr. Robert Giroux. Conversation with Bob was educational and a delight to the ears. His command of all subjects and his use of language made me hate to see our time end. We shared many dinners and glasses of wine solving the world's issues.
Bob improved so many lives. Countless people are successfully contributing to our society today because of his commitment as an educator - no, as a "Catholic educator," he once told me. Countless others have benefited from his work at the Via Christi Foundation.
Bob had a deep and abiding faith in God, and although he was not able to convince me to become Catholic, he did challenge me to practice my faith in daily living. The dinner conversation in Heaven is far more interesting this week.
I will grieve that Bob is no longer with us, but I will celebrate the fact that during 75 years he made this a better place to live.

Dear Aunt Anne, Cousins Bob, Mary, Tom, John, Edmund, Angela, Anne, Martin, Raymond, David & Dan.
I wish to send my deepest condolences for your loss. Uncle Bob always took the time to talk with me and see how things were going on in my life. He would always ended the conversation by telling me how impressed he was with my accopmlishments in life and how beautiful my wife and children were. He just enjoyed making me feel good and it worked every time.
I have so many wonderful memories with you guys in Vermont, Iowa, Kentucky, and Kansas. Every trip I felt so welcome and had a blast!
I look foward to seeing everyone of you on Friday to share with you in the grief of your loss.
I love you!

Dear Giroux family, I am so sorry to hear the passing of Bob. We worked together on the board of JPA. He was a dear man and always teased me about having as many children as he did - we have 9. He was so proud of you all. My sympathies.

Seeing Robert's picture brings back so many memories...mainly scores of kids running through the house, the laughter, the great conversation, the libations, some squabbles, an ongoing meal...the unmistakable aura of family, even if many in the house, like me and Ned, were not actually family. Dr. Giroux made you feel like you were one of the most important people ever to exist, which is what God was thinking when he made us, and I'll never forget that. His intelligence was admirable but it never stood in the way of his compassion and his human side. There was everything to learn from him, but also some flippant, fun times too! One time he even gave me a car! And that was HUGE to a college kid. He said if I could find the keys, put in a battery, and paint the fence, it was mine. I think, like any college kid, that I did the easier of the two and took the car...leaving paint fencing to an unlucky Huck Finn (with last name Giroux!). But oh the fun we had, and always at the center of it was Robert. May God rest his soul until we can resurrect those times "on the other side." With love from Rick Roder, KNC class of '86. Newman was SO proud to have Dr. Giroux as president! My condolences to all the family and especially one of my best friends, Thomas More Giroux, and Mrs. Giroux. You all have my prayers.

Dear Anne & family,
I pray grace and peace to you and your family during this time of the loss of Bob - he will be missed by so many; he touched so many lives every day in everything that he said and did. He was not only a friend, but an example of service, compassion and caring for everyone no matter what stage of life they were in.
I visited with him many times about putting his "stories" down in writing for his future generations to receive the benefit of his many experiences. I know those stories will give you comfort in the future as you gather as a family to begin the healing process. (I am sure that Bob is telling those stories in heaven as I write this.)
My prayers will be with you and your family in the days ahead. May the Lord truly lift you up and give you the strength and grace that only He can provide when we go through times of grief - our strength is in Him.
Blessings, Pam Lacey
