SO SORRY RANDY

David Duranleau

February 23, 2009

Randy,
I read the article about Ron in the paper today and my heart sank. I am so sorry for your loss. Ron was one of the fairest and most forthright people that I have ever met. In all of the years that we worked together and all of the numerous projects, it was never work, but a pleasure. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Ron – it was always tongue-in-cheek to call you my “Landlord” as you are so not the stereotypical type. When I moved to Wichita from California you were so kind, friendly and a comfort to a single Mom and two kids in a new town (even a quite town in comparison). Our house at 302 Volutsia was perfect for us!

It’s funny, I spoke to you on many occasions and yet we never got to meet face to face. Know that my image of you, your smile that I could feel over the phone will be missed, but will forever be in my heart and in my head. Even in my move back to California last June, you were so kind, offering me a letter of recommendation and your support.

To your family - Please accept our deepest sympathies

Ron was creative and talented and he had such dynamic energy. I was proud to know him and honored to work with him on several City of Wichita projects. He was so generous and giving, especially when it came to making Wichita a better place. He taught me how to dream big and be more creative. He showed me how to turn the ordinary into extraordinary. His bright light will shine on in those that knew him and his remarkable accomplishments that will continue to live on.

Randy, I am so sorry for your loss. Ron was such a wonderful and loving person. I will alway remember him as funny, quick and caring. He was always great to work for and was always ready to help and just give you a kind word and a great smile and just a little laugh. I will always remember the fun that we had at Design center.

25 years ago, Ron and Randy simultaneously became our landlords, our neighbors and our good friends. We have always considered them both dear friends. Ron's pain is over, but Randy's continues; and we open our hearts to you, Randy. You are in our prayers and we send you our love.
