Roselyn Roth Schmidt
April 21, 1934 - July 4, 2021
Wichita, Kansas - Roselyn Roth Schmidt passed away July 4, 2021. She was born to Joseph P. and Victoria Roth April 21, 1934. She was the youngest of four children. As a young girl she played the organ for St. Fidelis Basilica in Victoria, Kansas, also known as "The Cathedral of the Plains." Rose graduated from Saint Anthony Nursing School in 1955 and on September 7, 1955 she married the love of her life Donald E. Schmidt. They lived in Atchison, Kansas, Nebraska, Hays, Kansas and then settled in Wichita, Kansas in 1963. They began their family of six children in 1956. In 1971, after 16 years as a devoted Registered Nurse, Rose became the Director of Nursing at a senior healthcare facility in Wichita. This would prove to be a great move on their part, as they embarked on conceiving, building, developing, and operating a series of senior care facilities. Spanning over 50 years, while raising six children and overseeing the family business along side Don, she also volunteered at her local parish, Wichita Music Theatre, Assistance League of Wichita, and Wichita Art's Council. Throughout her life, Rose loved to entertain. Gatherings were highlighted around music as a trained soprano and masterful pianist. Rose will forever be in the hearts of her children Kathy, Karla, Kent, Karen, Keith, and Kurt, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Donald E. and Roselyn Schmidt Endowed Scholarship, Benedictine College, Office of Advancement, 1020 N. 2nd St., Atchison, KS 66002. Visitation will be from 5pm - 6pm on Monday, July 12, 2021 with Rosary at 6pm, Lakeview Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 13, 9am at Catholic Church of the Magdalene, 12626 E. 21st St., Wichita.

We are so sorry to hear of Rose's death. My mother was Agnes (Schmidt) Zimmerman, a cousin of Don. I baby sat for your family when Rose needed a sub and Don knew my brother-in-law when they were both coaches. We will keep you in our prayers.
