Dr. Polland had a huge influence on the Resp. Care department at SFRMC during the 1970s and 1980s He instructed me on the art of intubation and x-ray interpretation. He also showed me that kindness and love will take you a long way in life. He has been missed and will be missed.

I was fortunate to have been able to work for Dr. Polland as his office nurse in his clinic across the street from St Francis Hosp. He was a giant of a man who was dearly loved by his patients, his colleagues and all who worked for him. At Christmas he gave assorted candy to the nurses on all the units at St Francis that took care of his patients and to the Nuns. We loaded up the candy on a cart, made our way across the snowy street and delivered the candy. He made sure the list included everyone before the deluveries and he asked afterwards if we delivered to here...and there. He loved all the Sisters at St. Francis and they loved him. He had a great sense of humor, a good hearty laugh, and liked a good joke. His phone would start ringing at his house at 7am requesting a consult. He would treat his patients in the hosp, see all his consults, see his clinic patients and as soon as he got home rhe phone calls began again until 10pm asking for consults. I worked for Dr. Polland until he sold his practice and we started dismantling the office. I have always been proud to have been one of Dr. Polland's nurses and to have worked for him. Rest In Peace Dr. Polland. This world has truely been blessed to have had you in it. You gave of yourself, your knowledge and your skills from a genuine and sincere Big Heart who truely wanted to help and care for people.

I am always thankful for Dr Polland he saved my life and was a great friend to me and my wife. He was truly what all physicians should strive to make their care and love for their patients their goal. I often think about Dr Poland and the true caring feelings for all his patients.
