Sylvia Stephenson Obituary

Sylvia Dorthea Stephenson
October 14, 1931 - June 24, 2023
Wichita, Kansas - Sylvia Dorthea Stephenson, age 91, of Wichita, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023. Dorthea was born in Pampa, TX to Lorie and Lola Mae Warren. As a young child, her family moved to Yukon, OK where she has fond memories of growing up in a small town. She loved spending her summers at her grandparent's farm in Louisiana with her large extended family. She graduated from Yukon High School where she met her future husband, Clay Stephenson. She left Yukon to attend Oklahoma Baptist University but returned to Oklahoma City to work, marry and start a family. She loved being a mother and homemaker. Her husband's job took her to New Jersey, Arizona, and Virginia and she eventually settled in Wichita to be near family. In her early 50's, she returned to school and worked as an LPN in Wichita for the next 20 years. She was a loving and kind daughter, mother, grandmother and sister and lived her life guided by her faith. She will be missed by her family.
Dorthea is survived by her children, Sylvia and Tom Brydon, Clay and Debbie Stephenson, Cole and Vicki Stephenson and Shawn Gelwick along with 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Deanie Warren, and their family. She is preceded by her parents and a grandson.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
