Wichita, Kansas - Willard (Bill) Brooks Thompson passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the age of 91. He was born on February 16, 1930 in Wichita, KS to Dwight Henry and Katherine (Brooks) Thompson. Bill attended Robinson Junior High, East HS and the Univ of Kansas. In 1952, he enlisted in the US Navy (1952-1955) and upon completing OCS school, married Jane Floyd (Salina, KS). After graduating from the Univ of Kansas law school in 1959, he joined the law firm of Brooks & Brooks which was founded by his grandfather. The firm is now Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, where he practiced Trust and Estate law for 56 years. During his law career he was a member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and on the Executive committee of his firm for many years. Bill and Jane were the parents of three sons, Mark, Brooks and David. After the death of Jane, his wife of 46 years, Bill married Barbara Wagnon in 1999. Throughout his life, Bill was a consummate volunteer and served on the boards of many charities. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Jane (Jack) Spines, Martha (Chain) Healy; his brother, Dwight Henry "Tom" Thompson and his son, Mark, 10 days prior to Bill's death. Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Brooks (Polly) and grandson, Will; son, David (Patrice) and grandson, Brooks; and grandson, James, son of Mark. Numerous nieces and nephews and a cousin, Brad Hall, also survives Bill. A combined service for Bill and Mark will be held at St. Stephens Episcopal Church at 3:00pm, Saturday February 5.
