November 23, 2021
Shawnee, Kansas - Alan John Kostus went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2021.
He was born to Eleanor and Stanley Kostus on July 20th, 1949. He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Christ the King through 8th grade. He then graduated from Washington High School in 1967. He attended and graduated from Kansas State University and served faithfully in the National Guard for 22 years. He retired as a Supervisor of the main branch of the Kansas City Post office.
He married Marcia Lewis in June of 1972. They were married for 49 years.
Family members will always treasure his selfless character. People's well-being mattered more to him than his own comfort. He was a strong supporter of Advice and Aid.
He absolutely cherished being a grandfather to Ayden and the Twins - Reghan and Fallyn.
He is now with Jesus celebrating in glory.
The survivors include his wife Marcia, two sons Steven and Andrew (Ashley), 3 grandchildren, his sister Gail (Mike), and brother Bruce (Marsha). He maintained a close relationship with his cousins Sandy and Nancy (Fred) and his brother-in-law William Lewis (Sandy). In addition, he valued all the numerous relationships and friendships throughout the Kansas City area.
The family thanks all the supportive friends and prayers during the years.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, at Lenexa Baptist Church, 15320 W. 87th St., Lenexa, KS with the Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Advice & Aid Pro-Life Pregnancy Center, 10901 Granada Lane, Overland Park, Ks 66221. I am so sorry for your loss. Alan was my best man at my wedding in February 1969. I have no doubt he is in our heavenly father's arms.
