ALICE WICKERSHAM Obituary

Alice G. Wickersham, 87, of Fairway, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. Alice was born October 10, 1923, in Kansas City, MO to Dr. Axel I. and Elizabeth E. (Shoemaker-Heckert) Anderson. She grew up in a family of eight children and attended Westport High School. Alice married Price D. Wickersham on June 2, 1943, in Connecticut. He preceded her in death on July 21, 2010. In the early years of their long marriage, the couple resided at Lake of the Forest near Bonner Springs, Kansas, but then relocated to California and Colorado before returning to the Kansas City area. They lived in Fairway, Kansas for more than 40 years. Alice focused largely on her friends and family. She pursued her interest in genealogy passionately. Alice is survived by her daughters, Joan Papineau of Atchison, Deborah Lowery of Lawrence, her son, John Wickersham of New York, and their spouses. She is also survived by her sister Martha Obenland of Roeland Park, her grandchildren, Kimberly Papineau, Kansas City, Emily Hanley, Los Angeles, and Adam Wickersham of Chicago. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Boys Scouts of America, Heart of America Council (www.hoac-bsa.org) or Armistad International, Englwood Dr., Palo Alto, CA 94303.
