Arthur Daniel Czimer

Arthur Daniel Czimer of Parkville, Mo., passed away on September 20, 2009, at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Calif., following a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Kansas City, with Pastors Neil and Sacia Vik presiding. Inurnment will be in the columbarium at Mount Moriah Terrace Park in Kansas City. Art was born Nov. 13, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Arthur John Czimer and Lillian Varady (Czimer) Brickley. He graduated from Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Va., in 1957 and Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., with a degree in Business in 1963. He was in retail management for Sears for over 24 years. While working for Sears, he lived in several states including Indiana, Ohio and New York. After leaving Sears, he worked for several other retailers before retiring in 2002. He married Barbara Anne Walker on May 20, 1989, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicago. They lived in Chicago and Dallas, Texas, before moving to Kansas City in the summer of 2005. Following their retirement, he and Barbara especially enjoyed traveling around the United States to visit relatives and friends. Art also loved skiing, golfing, college football and basketball and the Chicago Bears. Art is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his daughters, Amy Czimer, of Cornelius, NC, and Katie Murren and her husband Will of Huntersville, NC; step- son, Todd Walker and his spouse Tom Donohue of Palm Springs; step daughter, Su Valdivia and her husband Rick of Kansas City; and grandchildren, Ashley and Alex Valdivia of Kansas City; sister, Arlyn Sherwood and her husband John of Charlotte, NC; and nephews, Brian and Joe Sherwood, also of Charlotte, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
