Kansas City, Missouri - Barbara Ann Eufinger, age 72, passed away on April 18, 2020. Barbara was born on December 29, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to Gregory Eufinger, Sr. and Catherine (Meckles) Eufinger. She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel grade school and Loretto Academy in Kansas City, Missouri graduating from Loretto in 1965. It was her instruction from the Loretto nuns in both grade school and high school which cultivated in her an inquisitive mind and a lifelong desire to become a teacher. Barbara received her Bachelor's degree in 1968 and her Master's degree in 1971, both from UMKC, after which she embarked on her career as a math teacher. Barbara initially taught math in the Kansas City, Kansas school district and finished her career as a public school teacher in the Shawnee Mission district, first at Northwest High School and later for many years at East High School where taught until her retirement in 2003. After retirement, Barbara tutored many students and was a volunteer teacher at Holy Cross elementary school in Northeast Kansas City, Missouri. Throughout her career, many students benefitted from her love of math and enthusiasm for imparting her knowledge to others. Barbara was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Church where she sang with the choir. She is survived by her sister, Mary Thomas; her brother Gregory Eufinger, Jr.; her niece Karen Thomas Chen and husband Richard; great-nephew Dylan Chen; great niece Alexis Chen; her beloved dogs Gracie and Trusty, and many friends. Memorial service will be held at St. Thomas More church, 11822 Holmes, KCMO 64131 on July 31, 2021 with visitation at 10:00 A.M. and Mass at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Thomas More Church or Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, KCMO 64137.
