Barbara Ann Nelson 1931-2018 Barbara Ann Nelson, nee Kamler, age 87, went to be the Lord on December 22, 2018. Barbara was a resident of the Gables Memory Care Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Barbara's family greatly appreciates the loving care she received as a Gables resident from 2012 until her passing. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her death. Barbara was born on August 26, 1931 in St. Joseph MO. Barbara was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her presence within her family is irreplaceable and will be forever treasured. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Josephine Kamler, her husband, John H Nelson who passed away November 28, 2006, her brother Karl Thomas Kamler, and brother-in-law Jim Nelson. Barbara is survived by 6 children; daughters Victoria Richter of Overland Park, KS, Deborah Peterson and her husband Bob Webb of Foley, AL, Dr. Faith Nelson-Eagles and her husband Fred Eagles of Springfield, Mo, Kathryn Rice and her husband Lance Rice of Creighton NE, sons Robert Nelson and his wife Angela of Lenexa, KS and US Army Lt. Colonel John C Nelson and his wife Neileen who are currently stationed in Italy, brothers, Fred Kamler, and his wife Teresa of Lenexa, KS, and Edward Kamler and his wife Donna of Kansas City, MO. Barbara is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 29, at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 13615 W. 92nd St., Lenexa, KS. Arr: Porter Funeral Homes & Crematory. (913)438-6444. A Military Internment will take place at Fort Leavenworth, KS at a date to be determined. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, John H. Nelson, who was a Veteran of the Korean War.
