Belfour McMillen Obituary

Belfour Ray McMillen, 84, Ft. Worth, an independent publisher's representative, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007. Memorial Service 1 p.m. Saturday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Private Interment. Should friends desire, his memory may be honored with a donation to the Alzheimer's Association Great Plains Chapter, 5601 S. 27th Street, Suite 201, Lincoln, Nebraska 68512. Belfour Ray McMillen was born January 4, 1923 in Kansas City, Kansas to Bert and Sylvia Williamson McMillen. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City in 1941, and from the University of Kansas in Lawrence in 1949. While at the University of Kansas, he was a 2nd Lieutenant in the ROTC. Belfour was a life member of the University of Kansas Alumnae Association and served as Secretary and Vice President of the University of Kansas Alumnae Association, New York City. He served in the US Army during WW II and was stationed in China. In 1949, Belfour married Betty Joe Lorbeer in Chicago, Illinois. He became a salesman with Liberty Mutual Insurance from 1949-56 before becoming sales manager for John Wiley & Sons Publishing, New York City, New York, where he developed the Trade Sales Department in 1958. Belfour became the Vice President of Sales for Van Nostran Reinhold Publishing Company, New York City, from 1967-70. He was and independent publisher's representative for the four state area from 1970 until his retirement in 1993. Belfour was preceded in death by his brother, Carol McMillen, and his sister, Joyce Brown. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty Joe Lorbeer McMillen; daughters, Alexandra Dillon and her husband, Jeremy, Heather Reynolds and her husband, Reede; grandchildren, Benjamin Dillon and Lauren Dillon; and brother, John McMillen of Kansas City, Kansas.
