Billy Lee "Bill" Hanson

Billy "Bill" Lee Hanson, 67, passed away peacefully at MMC at 4 a.m. Sunday, December 8, 2002. His wife, Lauralee and friends, Patsy and Bob Brown and Sue Gerschefske shared Bill's last earthly moments preceding his happy meeting with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Bill was baptized at All Saints Episcopal Church in 1979. Bedside prayers were said. Visitation will be at 12noon Saturday, December 21, followed by Memorial services at 1 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, I-435 at Holmes Rd. Born April 25, 1935 in Leonardville, KS, son of Clifford and Eliza (Masoner) Hanson, Bill was exceptionally loving, devoted, unselfish, generous, compassionate, loyal and patriotic individual. He served four years in the Navy and four years in the Air Force. He managed Ralph Gaines Colony Steak House for years and was Food Service Manger at GSA. He worked at RGAFB, Meadowbrook and Brookridge Golf and County Clubs in the capacities of: Greenskeeper Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Irrigation Specialist, Landscape Developer, Bridge Architect and Constructor, Golf Course Electrician and mechanic. Bill retired at 58 due to a massive stroke. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leon Jr., Oran and Lamar "Ticky" Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Lauralee (Groves) Hanson; sisters, Dixie Anderson, Scottsdale, AZ, Joan Doherty and husband, Bill, Naples, FL; brothers, Vern Hanson, Paola, KS, Kenneth "Pete" Hanson and wife, Patty, Lee's Summit, MO; brother, Robert "Bob" Hanson and his wife, Joyce, Belton, MO: nephews, Cary and Cory Anderson, Scottsdale, AZ, Lantz Trapiani, Leavenworth, KS, Brad Booth, Kansas City, MO; nieces, Kimberly Neilon/Moore, Scottsdale, AZ, Linda Walters and Robyn Hanson, Paola, KS, Lisa Hattok, Leavenworth, KS, Sonja Anderson, Salt Lake City, UT, Cindy Willis, Corona, CA. Bill will be deeply missed by all including his mother-in-law, Mamie Reynolds, Kansas City, MO; Uncles and Aunts, Kenneth and Billie Bush, Kansas City, MO, Nadine Carr, Liberty, MO, Patsy Ranes, Kansas City, MO, Cicero Watson, Cameron, MO, Don Watson, Lawson, MO, Bob and Lillian Watson, Kansas City, MO and Dale Carr, Kingston, MO.
