BOBBY JOE DAY

1949 - 2011 Bobby Joe Day, 62, a Northland resident in Kansas City, MO, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence. He was born February 21, 1949 in Keokuk, IA, to Robert W. and Wilma Faye (Anders) Day. They preceded him in death. Bobby graduated from Keokuk High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in service, he earned a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Bobby spent the majority of his working years as a stationary engineer for General Motors in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the VFW in Claycomo, MO. Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family and the special moments he shared with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in the yard. He married Brinda L. Day on November 6, 1987 in Ottumwa, IA. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include their children: Amanda Michael (David), Bryan Dalbey (LaLana) and Tara Lane (Larry), all of Kansas City (North), MO; his siblings: William Day (Rosalina), Tucson, AZ, Kevin Day (Beth), Urbandale, IA, David Day (Peggy), Montrose, IA, Randy Day, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Doug Daystrom, Keokuk, IA, Judy Roberts, Keokuk, IA, and Candice Mueller (Mike), Bettendorf, IA; three grandchildren: Kylie, Jake, and LaRissa, all of Kansas City (North), MO. A funeral service celebrating his life will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Meyers Northland Chapel, 401 Main St., Parkville, MO 64152. A graveside service and burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery, with military honors under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps. The family will receive friends form 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, at the funeral home.
