Leawood, Kansas - Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Brent L. Jones, 55, passed away on June 12, 2022 after suffering a heart attack in Oklahoma City. He had been working on the set of a new television series.
Brent was born to Robert and Marjorie (Joann) Jones on July 23, 1966 in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North in 1984 and followed his parent's into the family business, Jones Productions. At 20, he left KC for LA where he worked on movies, music videos, and commercials.
In 1999, he met the love of his life, Donna G. Dias from Vancouver, BC, Canada. They married in 2001. Their daughters, Scarlett & Stella, were born in 2004 and 2006. The family resided in West LA and Westwood.
Brent's ambition was to be a director. Early on, he created small projects with the help of friends in LA. He directed a short film, The Company Man, and many spec commercials to highlight his skills, eventually signing with a production company. Brent would go on to direct television commercials for BMW, Nissan, Bridgestone, and more. In 2016, he directed a Super Bowl commercial for WeatherTech.
In 2017 Brent & Donna moved back to KC to be near family. By chance, Brent met Bobbi Jo Reed of Healing House and was inspired to make the documentary feature film, Bobbi Jo: Under the Influence. Released on Amazon in 2021, the film won numerous awards at film festivals and continues to spread hope to those struggling with addiction.
Brent is survived by his wife, Donna, and his daughters, Scarlett and Stella; his parents, Bob and Joann Jones; his sisters, Cathy (Bill) Thomas and Lorie Jones (Dierk Van Keppel); nephews, Max (Hillary) Thomas, Sam (Mayra) Thomas, and Jackson Lueg; niece Sarah Lueg (Ryan Pierce); grand-nieces and nephews Harper, Penelope, Ben, and Caleb. He is predeceased by grand-niece Alicia Thomas.
