Carey Berger Obituary

Carey Ann Berger
July 24, 1996 - November 19, 2021
Overland Park, Kansas - Carey Ann Berger, age 25 of Overland Park, Kansas died unexpectedly on November 19, 2021. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Tom and Cindy Berger on July 24, 1996. She was a loving sister to Abby and Tommy.
Carey graduated from Blue Valley West High School where she played volleyball and lacrosse. She went on to attend college at the University of Kansas becoming a member of the Kappa Delta sorority and was a member of the KU club lacrosse team.
Her smile lit up a room and her unfailing compassion towards everyone she met was a gift that touched so many people throughout her 25 years of life. She was selfless, empathetic, and willing to help anyone in need, no matter the circumstances. Her awkward wit kept everyone laughing – leaving most people that knew her to say, "that's Carey". She always knew how to make any situation a positive one despite her self-proclaimed social anxiety. Carey enjoyed spending time with family and friends (especially the family dog), she loved shopping, watching the Chiefs, and going on family trips to the beach and snow skiing. While she loved family vacations, her trip down the Pacific Coast Highway with college friends was always her favorite.
Carey is survived by her parents Tom Berger and Cindy (Reiff) Berger, her sister Abby (Berger) Pavlisin and husband Mike, her brother Tommy, her grandparents Tom and Kay Berger and Doug and Joyce Reiff. Carey is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Carey's life will be held at Christ Church Anglican at 5500 W 91st St, Overland Park, KS 66207 (91st and Nall Ave) on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am and the Memorial service at 10:00 am. The service will be immediately followed by a burial in the church's garden.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, Carey's family would appreciate donations to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).

Carey brought such bright light to all of those around her. Her laughter, her kindness, her empathy and her genuine warm and welcoming nature to everyone were just a couple of the reasons we loved her. It was a blessing to have grown up together. Sending love, hugs, and big prayers to the entire Berger family.

Carey was such a wonderful person. Always knew how to put a smile on your face. One of the most kind and genuine people I knew. I enjoyed going to school with her and playing volleyball with her. My family and I are sending prayers.
