I feel blessed to have met Carl through my husband Duffy, who was a student of Carl´s songwriting classes. . Duffy cherished their friendship deeply and Carl always brought joy to those he met. His encouraging words and kindness will be missed. My deepest condolences.

Carl was a wonderful and completely unique man. My memories of him over the decades were of his relentless optimism, his deeply committed friendship which was practically lived out, and the joy he exuded from every pore in his being. He made time for the people he loved. He had a love of life that extended to music, storytelling, and his strange concoction of mayonnaise which he invented and called "Boltaise" and put on anything and everything. He listened and held those he chose to be in his life with consistent positive regard.

Cousin Gene - the oldest Bolte Cousin & me the youngest 1st cousin - was the acknowledged Patriarch of the family. Always welcoming to relatives coming to MO despite long and infrequent East or West Coast treks. Friendly rivalry between Gene's Navy and my Army in SE Asia (and our daughter's West Point attendance.) Fond memories of shared stories of visiting our Grandparents' farm in Slater, MO later owned by Gene's dad Carl, brother Denny, and himself. Also exceptional holiday meals shared around the Slater Grandparents' dinner table in the late '50s with KC Boltes and Alabama Boltes. Gene set the spring and summer male fashion in MO with his searsucker suits - pant legs trimmed down to Bermuda shorts-length and short-sleeved matching coat. All of his men's clubs' dress code was coat and tie. Gene would host these visits from the MO farm cousins always insisting that we appear sans tie. We knew better, which the club's Matre Des gratefully appreciated. Excepting his attire, Gene was always the gracious host with wonderful stories of the family's earlier years ... none exaggerated (I don't think?)

I happened to be able to help with some of the many aspects of Mr. Bolte's work life, retired life. He taught me a lot of things I just didn't know about what goes into determining the area and dimensions of a site, for example, as well as a few personal activities that were near and dear to his heart. His presence was/is so massive that I'm sure his family has much work ahead to readjust to the emptiness now that he's gone. I'm sorry for your loss.
