Charles "Chaz" Chastain V

1983 - 2025

Charles W. "Chaz" Chastain V, 42, (6/29/83-8/9/2025). Chaz attended Catholic grade schools in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School, where he excelled in football and academically all four years. After graduation, Chaz attended both the University of Kansas and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He was one semester shy of earning his Bachelor's degree. Chaz will be greatly missed by his mother, Andrea Stevenson Chastain and father, Charles Chastain IV (Dorothy), maternal uncle, Dr. Kevin Stevenson (Deborah) and paternal aunts, uncles and cousins. His best friend, Joe A. Williams (Christina) and family and the family of Mrs. Joan Bock also mourn his death.

Chaz was always a hard and reliable worker. He began working at age 14 at the neighborhood grocery store. For the next 28 years he continued to demonstrate a positive work ethic in the fields of home improvement, sales and real estate. Chaz had a keen eye and a passion for discovering valuable vintage items, particularly mid-century modern pieces which he gave away or sold. Chaz loved his pets and was a good pet parent.

Chaz is preceded in death by his grandparents, Andy and Jo Stevenson and Dr. C.W. "Bill" and Caroline Chastain and his dear friend Andrew Bock.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 3, 2025, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1001 E. 52nd St., Kansas City, MO. A celebration of Chaz's life will immediately follow at a location to be announced at the service. Chaz leaves a huge void no one else can ever fill.
