Charles Leroy "Roy" Pilant

Charles Leroy "Roy" Pilant, 78, Kearney, MO, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Lawson Assembly of God Church, Lawson, MO; burial in Fairview Cemetery, Kearney. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 12, at Fry Funeral Home, Kearney. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lawson Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 215, Lawson, MO 64062. Charles was born March 24, 1925, in Urich, MO, the youngest son of Charles W. and Eva L. (Brown) Pilant. On September 26, 1952, he married Reba A. Rairdon. He was a member and Deacon of Lawson Assembly of God and also sang in their choir. At the time of his death, Charles was a realtor with Holt Realty, where he had worked since 1988. He had been an agent for New York Life Insurance Company, where he worked in the field of education, training and management. Charles formed the Water District #4 by putting together many small water districts. Their headquarters is in Lathrop and he served as the President. Charles coordinated Lay Witness Missions for the Methodist Church and was a choir director for combined community choirs. He was a Boy Scout leader. Charles was a devout Christian, loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, and was always helping people in need. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Argus Pilant and Wilbur Pilant. Survivors include his wife, Reba of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Johnny McEntire, Lawson, MO; son, Barry Pilant, Orrick, MO; sister, Irene Koch, Leawood, KS; brother, Carmel Pilant, Clinton, MO; and three grandchildren, Brent Pilant, Sara Pilant and John Charles McEntire.
