Cheri Ann Menk

Cheri Ann Menk, 20, of Platte City, Mo., passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at the Benedictine College Auditorium in Atchison, Kan. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Parkville, Mo. Interment will be in the Platte City Cemetery. The family suggests contributions be given to the Menk family to be distributed among various causes that Cheri supported. Cheri was born April 28, 1989, in Mesa, Ariz., to Steven Wayne and Jacqueline Mary (Piper) Menk. She was a former member of St. Therese Catholic Church, and presently attended the Twelve Apostles Catholic Church of Platte City. Cheri was a 2007 graduate of Platte County R-III High School, where she was very involved in many activities, including: National Honor Society, volleyball, yearbook staff, and student council. She had just completed her sophomore year at Benedictine College, where she was a member of the dance team, and helped start the Raven School of Dance. Cheri was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Janice Piper. She is survived by: her parents, Steve and Jackie Menk, and her brother Dustin, all of the home; her fiance, Sean Huntley, of Platte City; her great grandmothers, Althea (Hawks) Krapff of Ohio, Ill., and Mildred Clark of E. Moline, Ill.; her maternal grandfather, Jack Piper, of Ohio, Ill.; her paternal grandparents, Roberta Gilbert (Jerry) of Peoria, Ill., and Gordon Menk, (Ennie), of Pekin, Ill.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
