Dale Edward Phillips

Dale Edward Phillips, age 85, a resident of Chillicothe, Mo., passed away at the VA Home in Cameron, Mo., on Monday, August 3, 2009. He was born the son of Clifford Earl and Ida Mae Kincaid Phillips on Nov. 22, 1923. He was a 1942 graduated of the Chillicothe High School. On Feb. 20, 1944, he married Clara Irene Constant in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2005. He served in the United States Army from July 1944 to June 1946. He worked 45 years for the City of Chillicothe, retiring in 1988 as Superintendent of Water and Wastewater Systems. He also worked two years for the State of Missouri Department of Health. He served as a 1st Ward City Councilman from 1991-1997. He was a member of Rotary, the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe and the VFW. He enjoyed being surrounded by his large family. He is survived by a son, Dale Richard "Dick" Phillips and wife Martha of Honolulu, Hawaii; three daughters, Carol Jones and husband Ron of Branson, Mo., Marsha Beetsma and husband Ron of Chillicothe, Cathy Graham and husband Jim of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Bob W. Phillips and wife JoAnn of Leander, Texas; a sister-in-law, Margaret Phillips of Belle Vista, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, Dale Phillips Jr., Chris Jones, Andy Jones and wife donna, Amy Jones, Abby Beetsma, Ben Beetsma, Brad Beetsma and wife Lanie, Megan Lent and husband Mike, Jason Graham and wife Heidi, Katy Graham, Zac Graham and fiance Cassie Cox; 10 great grandchildren, Andrew Jones, Jackson and Morgan Jones, Emma Jones and Ella Hoover, Mia, Holden and Isabella Graham, Lyla Beetsma and Dale Richard Hiroiche Phillips. He also was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald and Jerry Phillips, and a sister-in-law, Frieda Phillips. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the United Methodist Church, Chillicothe. Friends may call after 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. There will be a family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Home in Cameron, or the Simpson Park Festival of Lights and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
