Daniel Almada Obituary

Daniel Almada was born July 27, 1923 in Jerome, AZ. He was most proud of his heritage, his family, and his service to his country. He served as a member of the US Army, 82nd Airborne, and 505th PIR. He was wounded in Belgium during The Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart. Daniel met and married Carmen Rivera (deceased) in 1950. They had five children, Roxana Hauser (Alan), Rachel Dickey, Laura Montague, Daniel Jr. (Debbie), and Michael (Rebecca). The family continued to grow and included ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Daniel was an active member of Primera Iglesia Bautista Westside. He loved his church family and it was difficult for him during his illness when he could no longer attend regularly. Daniel was a lover of music and an amateur vocalist. He was known to serenade his family and friends. His family will never cease to miss him. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel 20 W. Linwood Blvd Kansas City, MO. In Honor of Mr. Almada, the American Legion Post #609 will conduct their traditional Poppy Service starting at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Primera Iglesia Bautista Westside. 801 Avenida Cesar Chavez Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery 6901 Troost Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Care Alternatives Hospice. 1420 NW Vivion Rd, Suite 105, Kansas City, MO. 64118. 816-584-8111. Dad, you were one of a kind. We miss your ole grumpy self. We will never forget you and Grandpa stories will be told year after year. You will live on through our memories as Mom does. You both greatly influenced our lives forever and anyone who knows us see the "You and Mom" in us.
