I have just learned of Dr. Stoneking's passing. My condolences to his entire family.
Dr. Stoneking helped me during a very difficult time in my life. I was having complications from a large uterine fibroid tumor and needed a hysterectomy but had no insurance and no means to pay. He referred me to Voc Rehab and with their help I had the hysterectomy
in January of 2007.
I am so very grateful to Dr. Stoneking for working with me through this program. He was such a kind and caring Dr. who will be forever missed. My heart is heavy.

Wow! Just found out about this today. How sad & tragic to say the least!! Only knew him briefly as he helped me coach his son Kyler in Baseball. And as we got to know each other a little bit and I knew he was a MD, didn't realize he was an OB. Come to find out, he and his Medical Partner Dr. Metz delivered my son Samuel. Very down to earth fellow. My Heart goes out to Kyler!!! God's peace upon the family & especially Kyler. He is a good kid & the Lord will be with him! Hope he knows that!!

I just found out about Dave's passing. I am so sorry for his families loss.
I moved in across the street from Dave in 1971. We became good friends over the years and had many great times just being kids.
I always thought of Dave as a brother. I am so proud of my old friend...he touched so many lives as expressed by all his friends and patients remembrances. He has left an enduring mark on many and will be remembered by all of us that knew him.
I will cherish the memories I have of Dave.
Rest in Peace old friend.

I am just now seeing this. I loved Dr. Stoneking and he was my gynecologist. As a person with PTSD from sexual trauma you would think I would have a hard time with male gynecologists but he was so warm and supportive and left me feeling at ease. He was a consummate professional. I had NO idea about this background in Psychology but it makes perfect sense!! He was caring and kind and is sorely missed. ..Dina Patton

Growing up as a geeky kid in Meadowbrook, we had the coolest dude for a lifeguard at our neighborhood pool. The guy behind the mirrored sunglasses (I can still remember vividly 40 years later) was none other than David Stoneking. Dave was about 10 years older than me but was always a super fun guy and nice to me and all of my friends while we ran around causing havok at the pool. As the summers ticked away, Dave eventually moved on to bigger things and I grew up and my family moved from the neighborhood in Meadowbrook. As fate and luck would have it over a decade later, I walked into my first day of medical school in 1993 to see that same cool dude standing there. Dave hadn't changed a bit other than sporting a pony tail. It was an honor and privilege to have Dave as a colleague. He was always a bright spot in those long days of school & studying. Our specialties took us different directions, but it was always great when on a rare occasion we would bump into each other and get a chance to catch up. Not surprisingly, our mutual patients had nothing but glowing praise for my old friend.
Take it easy until our paths cross again Dave.

I'm so sorry. Dr. Stoneking was a amazing doctor. He took such good care of me during my pregnancy. I developed gestational diabetes and he always wanted that darn book of blood sugar readings. At the end of my pregnancy I would have to go in every week for a stress test and ultrasound then to the office to see him. He was always so caring and uplifting. I asked him if I needed a cesarean that he would be the one to do it of course he said yes. I remember the day I went to see him after my weekly stress test and sonogram the baby was breech and said we're doing a cesarean. He was there every step of the way. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor. He will be greatly missed.

I worked with Dr. Stoneking many years ago at the health department when we took on an OB clinic for uninsured women. I developed a wonderful relationship with him and found we shared a very similar vision for our patients. He was truly a blessing to us and I will most assuredly remember him

Dr. Stinking was a great man and Dr. I was his patient when he first started at white Wilson. Always had a good laugh with him and checking up on the family. He had a pic of him on the beach in a white shirt. I gave him the name of surfer dude. He could not find that pic even though it was in his office. I was solo sad to see him leave here. He will be remembered a,ways, thanks for the good times and laughs. Dot randle

I'm still in shock that you're gone. I still refuse to find another OBGYN because none will compare to you. You were so caring and kind! I never once felt neglected and always felt like a part of the family when I walked into your office. I never feared for my babies bc I knew they were in good hands. I truly know that you are now in good hands with the Lord. Thank you for serving so many and loving what you did everyday. You will truly be missed.

My heart broke when I heard this news. Dr. Stoneking was my doctor for 11 years. He will forever hold a special place in my heart. i Had a miscarriage and had to find a new OB. My pediatrician recommended him. Stoneking saw me and said I'll see you here in about three months. Well, my husband wasn't wanting a third but he was confident I'd be back. Sure enough almost to the day I was back to see him and was pregnant! I was a high risk pregnancy due to my first two. He knew this and took great care. I was fine and no signs of early labor or issues were occurring. But then at 27 weeks I knew something was up and I met him at the hospital Fort Walton Beach Mediacl Center. My best friend drove me as my husband was out of town. My neighbor came over to help with my 2 1/2 and 5 year olds. I got to the hospital and started bleeding to learn I had an abruption and prolapsed cord, was 4 cm dialated and 100% effaced at 27 weeks. Well, I still cry as I recall this night. The NICU was not ready and he knew I needed one. I am the daughter of a doctor and what Stoneking did was beyond over the top. He hooked me up to the monitor to make sure the baby was ok. Started me on the MAG( magnesium sulfate). I couldn't be flown to Pensacola due to the rainy weather so I had to go by ambulance and Dr. Stoneking RODE WITH ME to make sure I didn't deliver in route. He said I was too high risk in active labor and he wanted to stay with me to monitor. He also said I've never ridden in an ambulance either so this will be fun. He was such a character. When we arrived to sacred heart the doctors on call knew I was coming but had no clue my doctor came too. If you could have seen their faces when Dr. Stineking told them who he was and that he had ridden with me in the ambulance you would have died. Although Stoneking did not have privileges at sacred heart the other doctors ( residents) told him you go right ahead and finish Taking care off me. Those residents/physicians were in awe to see a doctor care that much about his patients. I have thanked the good Lord for providing me such an amazing angel that night. Stoneking was incredible and I shared this story with everyone and let's just say they all had tears steaming down their faces. I've never heard of another doctor doing that and my dad cried like I baby when he heard what Dr. Stoneking did. I always recommend him to anyone looking for an OB GYN. He was one in a million and I'm just devastated to know he has passed. I pray for his wife and son. Just wanted everyone to know what kind of a doctor he truly was. My son was not born that night and was held off 10 days with contractions all those ten days. He was born at 28 weeks weighing 2 1/2 pounds. He is almost 11 and doing great. Thank you Dr. Stoneking for all you did and may you be at peace in heaven. No more pain or suffering. You will be deeply missed and you are loved dearly by so many. See you again one day! Hugs and lots of gratitude. Love, Susan Pankratz

RIP! He delivered my older two kids Trinity (2007) and Trey (2009). I was so young and he made me feel normal about it all. Treated me with the same love and care he would anyone else while I received criticism from the outside because of me being a teen mom. He abided all my request. I will always be grateful for allowing 2 people in my csections after my crying and begging lol that pony tail and smile will always be in my memory. Love, Peace, and FAITH to his family! May God be with you.

We became friends for life when we entered our ob/gyn residency together. So proud of him. Patients adored him. He was like a brother to Bev and myself. We shared many memories of hard work, tears, laughter. He made us all laugh and was a friend through thick and thin.
We will miss you David. Until we see you again! Thanks for who you were. You blessed our lives by being you! Now you can finally rest.
