Denis Shea Obituary

Denis Anthony Shea, 92, Overland Park, KS, formerly of Merriam, died February 25, 2005, at the St. Joseph Health Center. He was born in Manchester, NH, and moved to this area in 1954. He was a member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a volunteer at the Johnson County Public Library. D.A. Shea spent some 40 years with the Colgate Palmolive Co. He started in Jersey City, NJ, in the research and development department and later became a process auditor. He was promoted to the position of supervisor of soaps and detergents at the Kansas City, KS, plant. At his retirement, he was an integral part of management. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth A. Shea in October 1991. Survivors include her son John Shea and wife Linda, New Boston, NH; daughters Judith A. Vaughn, Harrisonville, and Susan E. Burke and husband Joseph, Lenexa, KS; sister Rita Abbott and husband James, New London, NH; eight grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3 at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel; burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. Friends may call 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Rd., KCMO, 64138-4490. (Arr. McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 913-642-3565)
