Tempe, Arizona - Donald Ray Lohrengel, 84, passed away on November 5, 2021, at his home in Tempe, AZ, from Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Don was born on July 24, 1937, in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Wilhelm Lohrengel & Noel Alberta Crow Lohrengel.
He is survived by his wife Karen Greene Lohrengel. He is also survived by his former wife Eileen Sandburg; daughters Jennifer Williams & Julie Hinke; granddaughters Avery Lorca, Megan Karr, Bailey Chapman, & Elise Hinke; & also by his sister LaRita Shroy.
Don graduated from Rosedale High School (Kansas City, KS) in 1955 & Kansas State Teacher's College (Emporia, KS) in 1960. He enjoyed a long career working around the world as an airline flight instructor. Don's hobbies included fishing, camping, scuba diving, & adventure travel.
Visitation & memorial service starting at 1:00pm on December 10, 2021, at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, KS. Burial immediately following at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the AOPA Foundation.
