Doreen Kay Daggett

Doreen Kay Daggett, age 50, Kansas City, Kan., died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 10, at the Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd St., Kansas City, Kan. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Doreen was born July 22, 1959, in Southampton, N.Y., and had lived most of her life in the Kansas City area. She had been the owner of Human Resources Inc., which helped the gifted and those with learning disabilities find employment, had been a salesperson for numerous automotive dealerships and had worked in marketing at PTK. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. Doreen loved horses and spending time at her lake house in the Ozarks with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice (Pike) Everhart; two brothers, Gary Everhart and Darrell Everhart, and her beloved aunt, Coralee Buffa. Doreen is survived by her husband of seven years, E. Leon Daggett, of the home; her children Steve Hampton and his wife Kaci, Christopher W. Hampton, Stephanie K. Pauley; stepchildren Michelle Meller, David Daggett, Kristina Daggett, and Alicia Daggett; two brothers and their wives, Randy and Janey Everhart, James and Misty Everhart; two sisters, Janet Everhart, Janice Michalek and her husband Mark; three uncles, Danny Elgin, Larry Everhart, Kenny Everhart; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
