DORIS S. WINGER

Doris S. Winger, 81, of Prairie Village, Kan., passed away April 15, 2010. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, with a visitation prior from 10 to 11 a.m.; entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Doris was born on April 14, 1929, to Albert and Veronica Steffee in Okmulgee, Okla. She lived most of her childhood in Oklahoma City before attending Columbia College and the University of Oklahoma. She married Joseph J. Winger on November 28, 1952, and he preceded her in death after 49 wonderful years of marriage. Family and friends were the focal point of her life, as she leaves her two children, Joe (Beth) Winger, Wichita, Kan., and Jane (Mike) Savidge of Overland Park, Kan. She leaves five grandchildren, Nikki (Chris) Womack, Doug (Brandi) Winger, and Janelle (Andy) Womack, all of Wichita, and Kim and Sara Savidge of Overland Park, Kan., and four great- grandchildren, Trenton and Ellis Womack and Jude and Sheldon Winger. Doris was a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church and a guild member of Sisters, Servants of Mary. A special thanks to the amazing and dedicated staff at The Atriums, who filled her final months of life with compassion, dignity and humor. A loving mother and grandmother, Doris will be missed for her positive attitude, quick wit and dedication to her family.
