Dorothy Lee Eyman

Dorothy Lee Eyman, 82, Emporia, KS, died at the Kingswood Manor, Kansas City, MO, on Saturday, June 5, 2004. Dorothy Lee Tobler, the daughter of Jacob Earl (Sr.) and Frances Lucinda Allison Tobler, was born at Kansas City, MO, on February 3, 1922. She married W. Blake Eyman at Kansas City, MO, on December 20, 1944; he died January 27, 1989. Surviving family members include her son, William Blake Eyman Jr., Emporia, KS. She happily adopted as her own children, Gene & Kay Jacob, Emporia, KS, Earnest & Iris Tamayose, Pearl City, HI, Paul & Ann Sakamoto, Kahului, HI. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and a brother, Earl Tobler, Jr. Dorothy worked for 25 years with her parents in the family business, Tobler Flowers in Kansas City, MO. She and her husband later owned and operated Riverside Gardens Florists in Emporia, KS, from 1956 until they retired in 1980. She made corsages for Eleanor Roosevelt. She taught classes at KSU, was a featured designer at state florists conventions, and, while operating Riverside Gardens in Emporia, she conducted yearly kindergarten tours in the '60s and '70s. She was a graduate of Southwest High School, Kansas City, MO, in 1939. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Emporia, KS, at 3 p.m. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m. Memorials have been established with the Flower fund of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, The Emporia Friends of the Zoo, or the Emporia Public Library for large print books, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
