Leawood, Kansas - Elizabeth "Liz" Ann (Ketchu) Jewell 85 died Sunday afternoon August 15th, 2021. She was born in 1935 in Bangor, Maine, the 4th of eight siblings.
Liz was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maxwell Mason Jewell; brothers, Charles "Chuck", Peter, Donald; sisters, Jenny Mae (Ketchu) Barnes; brother–in–law Evan Jewell and parents Charles and Bernice Ketchu. She leaves behind daughters, Stephanie (Bill) Herndon, Alicia Hamm, Jamie (Troy) Medley, and Megan Jewell; granddaughters, Grace, Paige and Claire Medley; Sister Dorothy "Dottie" Kontos; brothers, Jimmy and Bobby Ketchu; sister–in–law Bonnie Hensley and brother-in-law Kent Jewell; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She loved being involved with the community and was such a Royals fan that she became a Lancer, and even served as President in 2003. She loved going to Harrah's, Coaches and Touches, because she loved being out with people. Mom didn't know a Stranger-She was friends with every single person she met.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Alzheimer's Association or The American Cancer Society.
A visitation will be held Wednesday September 8, 2021, from 9:00 – 10:00 am at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave. Overland Park, KS, followed by a private service.
A celebration of her life will start at 12:30 pm at Touches, 6820 W105th, Overland Park, KS 66212. All are welcome to attend.
