ELVIN H. BARNETT

Elvin Hollis Barnett, 78, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Children's Mercy Hospital in memory of his grandson, Brent Barnett. Elvin was born Sept. 18, 1934, in Odessa, MO, the son of Hollis Ellton and Hazel Faye (Young) Barnett. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Elvin married Karen Sue Beck on Feb. 14, 1959. He loved working on his farm, fishing, and spending time with his family. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles & Harry Barnett; sister, Faye Webb; and grandson, Brent Barnett. His survivors include his wife of 53 years, Karen Barnett; three sons, Rodney & Becky, Russell & Caroline, Wesley & Teresa Barnett; five grandchildren, Briana, Bailey & Brooklyn Barnett, Matthew McMurray & Jamie Jones; four sisters, Edith Cole, Janie Crump, Sharon Payne & Margaret Glover; and brother, Phil Barnett.
