Eric Sill Obituary

Eric Tyler Sill, 20, of Olathe, passed away on September 12, 2009. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula St., Olathe, KS 66061. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at St. Paul's Catholic Church with burial following at Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Eric was an avid sports player. He mostly enjoyed camping, canoeing and his friends. Eric was full of life and had a smile that could light up a room. He was very giving and had a heart of gold, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a great listener, so caring and compassionate. He was one of those who had the ability to take someone who didn't feel like part of a group and make them feel accepted and at ease. Eric had a determined spirit and when he set his mind to something there was no stopping him. He graduated from Olathe North High School in 2008 and was attending Kansas City Kansas Community College. He had planned to attend KU next year to continue his education in Business Management. Eric had worked at Price Chopper for three years while he was in high school and was currently employed at UPS while attending KCCC. He had many friends at both places. Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Lillie Kane and his maternal grandmother, Katie Pavlich. He is survived by his parents, Dave and Carla Sill, sister, Ashlee Sill, paternal grandparents, Bill and Cyndi Sill, maternal grandparents, John Pavlich Sr. and Ron and Trudy Lee, aunts and uncles, Gary and Judy Rider, Carol Haart, Doug and Vicki Hosfelt, Wade and Debi Logan, Dan Sill, Larry and Tami Newman, Kerry and Barb Martin, Jim and Brenda Little, John Pavlich Jr., Tom and Kim Kane, Terry and Christy Spurel, 50 cousins and many friends. Eric was loved by all who knew him. He was taken from us too soon and will be forever missed but never forgotten. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, we'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again to us!!! Condolences may be offered at www.McGilley-Frye.com. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I coached Eric in soccer and played soccer with Eric when he became old enough for our men's league. Any team, any sport, was better because of Eric. He always competed and was a great teammate. I'm crushed that much of the world will have missed Eric's greatness, and I hurt deeply for Dave and Carla. You were terrific parents of a wonderful son who left us way too early.

For those who suffer, and those who cry this night, give them repose, Lord;
a pause in their burdens. Let there be minutes where they experience peace,
not of man but of angels. (Margaret A. Davidson) I pray the Lord holds you and gives you comfort.
