FINLEY TATE Obituary

Finley Tate, 84, of Vista, CA, died at 4:15 p.m. on May 24, 2011, at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO. Visitation will be at 2:00 and funeral service at 3:00. He will be interred immediately following the service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, MO, with full Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) 383 Main Avenue, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851. Mr. Tate was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Zada Lou Walden. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Bridges of Harrisonville, MO, and Linda Verdi of San Diego, CA. Mr. Tate was born of Lawrence Edward Tate and Martha Virginia Bartlett in West Palm Beach, FL, on February 21, 1927. He served in the United States Military in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. During his service he was stationed in Europe, Japan and several Military Bases in the United States. Mr. Tate studied pre-med at Missouri University for three years, but was interrupted by his second tour in the Military. Upon his return to MIZZOU he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1952. He continued to support MIZZOU through the Alumni Association until his death. Mr. Tate began his Personnel Management career at Bendix Aviation in Kansas City, MO, working in various Management positions for 12 years. He completed his career, working for 25 years, as Personnel Manager for a publishing company, Modern Handcraft, Inc, in Kansas City MO.
