Florence H. Fleck

Florence H. Fleck, a resident of The Sweet Life at Rosehill in Shawnee, KS, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004. Florence was born in Newark, NJ, on October 21, 1907, to William and Annie Hinze. In 1933, she and her husband, Martin Fleck, Sr., moved from New Jersey to sunny and dry Albuquerque, NM, to facilitate Martin's recovery from tuberculosis. Florence lived in Albuquerque for almost seven decades, during which she successfully pursued a number of careers, including 20 years as a civilian employee at Kirtland Air Force Base, where she achieved officer rank. After retiring, she purchased an apartment complex, which she managed for the next 30 years. She was a faithful charter member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church, where she served for many years as a deaconess. She selflessly volunteered in many charitable activities throughout her life. First and foremost, she was a loving and dedicated mother to her two children. A victim of Alzheimer's, Florence moved to The Sweet Life in 2001, where she charmed those who cared for her with her sweet disposition and beautiful smile. Her memory is cherished by her family and many friends. She is survived by her children and spouses, Martin Fleck, Jr., and wife Lois of The Woodlands, TX, and Annehara Tatschl and husband John, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren C.L. Corey and wife Cynthia and their children Christopher and Caitlin; Sean Tatschl and wife Suzanne and their children Matthew and Anna; Krista Eyler and husband Jarrod and child Joseph; sisters Margaret Beinner, Anna Wagner, Ruth Reindl, Muriel Mayer and husband Robert, and their families. A memorial service will be held at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 63rd and Roe, Prairie Village, KS. The date has not yet been determined. (Arr. Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee)
