GARY DYKE Obituary

Gary Gene Dyke, 68, of rural Lincoln, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at his home near Lincoln. He was born on December 17, 1942, at the family home in Kansas City, Missouri, a son of Richard Allen and Goldie Stella (Sparks) Dyke. He was born and raised in Kansas City and attended East High School. He was baptized at William Jewel Baptist Church, Kansas City. In 1979, he moved to rural Lincoln. On July 7, 1997, in Las Vegas, NV, he was united in marriage to Connie R Dagley. Gary was a tool and die maker and had worked for Imco in Kansas City, Triangle in Grandview, ABM and Kelsey Hayes, both in Sedalia, and retired in 1999 from Solar Tool and Die in Kansas City. He loved trains and was a member of the Live Steamers in Kansas City, a 1:10 scale model train club. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #4286 of Lincoln. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and his favorite place was the Grand Canyon, playing cards as long as he was winning, and family get- togethers. He is survived by: two sons, Richard Thomas Dyke of Kansas City and Daniel Shawn Lane of Lincoln; one sister, Shelia Rochelle McClendon and her husband Richard of Kingsville; one brother, William Russel Dyke of Kansas City; six grandchildren, Kody, Austin, Amber, Allyssa, Gary Ray, and Brant; and one great-granddaughter, Savannah Marie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Dyke and Goldie Mills, his daughter, Rochelle Denise Dyke, and his brother, Larry Allen Dyke. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011, at Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp, with Rev. Jason Veale officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Edmonson Cemetery, rural Lincoln. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Twin Lakes Hospice or Research Medical Center in Kansas City in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
