Blue Springs, Missouri - Gerald (Jerry) Paul Hansen, 77, a resident of Blue Springs, Missouri, and long-time McDonald's owner/operator, passed away at his home on Monday, December 22, 2025. He was born June 30, 1948, to Theodore and Cecilia (Gunia) Hansen in Omaha, Nebraska.

Jerry was a 1966 graduate of Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduating, he joined the Air Force and served for four years. He owned and operated several McDonald's restaurants in Independence, Missouri. Jerry was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jackie Hansen; former wife, Joanne; sister-in-law, Kathi (Greg) Hansen. He is survived by his daughters: Jill Hill (Jason) of Kansas City, Missouri; Jodi Ward (Kevin) of Liberty, Missouri; grandchildren, Ethan, Alex and Kiley Hill, Keegan, Ty and Boyer Ward; siblings, Charlene Hatfield (Gene) of Honey Creek, Iowa; Greg Hansen of Omaha, Nebraska; Glenn Hansen (Toni) of Crescent, Iowa; long-time friend, Faye Gillespie of Blue Springs, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

All services for Jerry Hansen will be held Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Blue Springs, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Rosary will be prayed at 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later time at Saint Mary Magdalene Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City.
