Gregory Russell Lashmet
February 19, 1980 - September 19, 2025
Appleton, Wisconsin - Gregory Russell Lashmet, 45, of Appleton, WI - formerly of Overland Park, KS - passed away September 19, 2025. Born on February 19, 1980, Greg attended Pawnee Elementary and Indian Woods Middle School before graduating from Shawnee Mission South High School. He later studied and walked on in cross country at Johnson County Community College and Highland Community College.
From an early age, Greg stood out as both an athlete and entertainer. He played nearly every sport well and was quick to nickname others and make them laugh. As a teenager, he umpired long days at the 3 and 2 Baseball fields, admired for his patience, humor and understanding of the game.
In adulthood, Greg embraced distance running with passion - often logging miles at a blistering sub-5:30 pace - and completed several marathons including the 2004 Chicago Marathon which he ran spontaneously as a support to his sister.
Greg had survived a serious motorcycle accident that left him with a spinal injury in 1998. His unwavering resilience in the years that followed became a source of inspiration to many.
Professionally, Greg owned Lashmet Flatwork and led concrete projects across several metro counties with a reputation for creativity, precision, and outstanding people skills.
Greg cherished his marriage to Sara Cox as one of life's brightest chapters. Later in Wisconsin, he and Dana Kaphingst welcomed their daughter Bailey - his greatest pride and legacy.
Greg is survived by his beloved daughter Bailey Lashmet of Wisconsin; his parents Paul Vincent Lashmet, Jr. (Olathe) and Katherine Ellen (McElrone) Britt, and stepfather Michael Britt (Dodgeville, WI); his brother Paul Lashmet III (KCK), his sister Kristin Blomquist Peck and her children (Overland Park and Durango, CO); his cousin Fred Lashmet and family (Grandview, MO); and a host of extended family and friends in Kansas City, Wisconsin, and Florida.
If you were in Greg's life, he loved you with his whole heart. He brought joy, encouraged big dreams, and left a legacy of laughter, adventure, and unwavering kindness. He will be deeply missed. To honor him, set a challenging goal and pursue it with determination - Greg would want that for you.
