HAROLD ARCHER Obituary

HAROLD D. ARCHER Harold D. (Hal) Archer, 80, passed away in Hong Kong on June 30, 2017. Hal was born on Sept. 23, 1936, in Olathe, KS, to Herb and Wynona (Fiehler) Archer. He attended school in Olathe graduating from Olathe High in 1954. He joined the Army after school and spent most of his tour in Wiesbaden, Ger-many. Returning home in 1956, he enrolled at the University of Kansas and received a degree in International Relations in 1960. He then worked for Maupin Tour in Lawrence, KS, before moving to Tokyo and then Hong Kong in 1962. In Hong Kong, he worked in the travel industry, hosted a radio show, modeled, was a TV newsman, was a partner in an import/export company, and founded and ran a com-pany which provided commercials to hotel TVs. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Penny (Yong) Archer of Hong Kong, brother Gary Archer of Lake Quivira, KS, sister Sharon Stiner of Olathe, KS, nieces Julie Ewing and Jill Bergthold, and nephews Craig and Kyle Archer. Cremation. Services were held Saturday, July 15, at the Community Church of Hong Kong.
